The company has announced that Jagex has announced strategies to address the issue OSRS Gold. In a blog entry and attributed to "The RuneScape Team", the publisher declares that "gold purchased via RWT is a problem in all online games that use an exchangeable currency" however the "Anti-Cheating Team has made significant efforts to tackle RWT sellers in or out" but it is taking more severe measures from the moment it takes beginning.
The company cites the "growing team " and "improved tools", Jagex says it will not just be targeting sellers of gold and resources through RWT but also buyers. The aim is to limit the demand, and also the supply.
Jagex has announced that it will start sending "messages to players whom we've found engaging to engage in"RWT" within "the coming hours". "For those who were involved, we'd like to emphasize that this is your single all-encompassing warning" they added.
Other measures that developers will take as punishments for RWT activities consist of wealth removal - which is basically eliminating gains that were earned illegally from accounts of players at a server level - and potential bans.
RuneScape's PvP element, also known as the Duel Arena, will also have more stringent rules enforced. Jagex claims that the feature "has been a flashpoint for the aforementioned toxic behavior", and that 38 percent of bans on RWT action up to this point stem from this particular aspect in the game. It says that already amounts to "thousands of bans per month".
As a result, the developer appears to be considering the more radical route, saying "we're looking in the long-term to remove this Duel Arena out of RuneScape completely Buy RuneScape Gold." For now it will introduce "some immediate actions" to tidy up PvP "until our team of developers can release a major update that fully takes over the Duel Arena next year."
